I LOVE THE CORE KNOWLEDGE FAIR!!!
YOU GUYS ROCK!!!

  • Everyone helps each other - true collaborative endeavor.
  • Learning is evident everywhere
  • Students beam with pride because of what they have accomplished
  • You create wonderful memories
  • Everyone comes and works and helps and does it because it is important
  • You represent us well to the community
  • Each of you do great things for kids and families
  • It is not fluff - it's what school is all about
  •
Take a few moments to reflect.  I will send you a brief reflection form to complete individually or in teams.  Take a minute to give positive feedback to your colleagues.  Don't forget to thank all the people who stepped in to help you finish projects and decorate.  **** We are supposed to have students present to the School Board in April.  Maybe you have a student or two that could share their projects.  If so, hold on to them and we will prepare another presentation.

Elsa - I did not get to stay for the fourth grade performance, but I had more than one person express what a superb job you did with preparing students for a very difficult number.  You pulled off a musical piece with quality that has not been heard from these students before.  Congratulations and thank you. (Maybe we should take fourth grade to the April Board meeting!)

Next week is the end of the quarter.  I will need grades completed by Saturday night so that I can print report cards on Sunday before fourth quarter attendance begins to auto fill.  I will post to Family Access on Monday and then copies should be sent home on Monday in student folders.  If you have any students for which you are considering retention, you need to complete a Lights Retention Scale and then discuss the results with me before we meet with parents.

We have thirteen classes who have selected their carnival basket theme.  That leaves seven of you with less themes to pick from.  Let me know what you choose or ask if you need ideas.

Several months ago I posted a link to a lesson planning website that helped link lessons to the CCSS.  Cheryl has been piloting the program and reports that it has improved just in the time since she signed up.  Cheryl recommends it to others!  Here is the link again.  http://www.commoncurriculum.com

Plant Facilities Levy next Tuesday, March 12, 2013.  This money covers maintenance needs for buildings and grounds.  This is a ten year levy and we are seeking the same level of funding with no school tax increase.  If you are a Middleton School District resident we encourage you and your family to vote. If you need support during the day to get to the polls, please let me know.  We could also use your help communicating with parents to remind them to take the time to vote.  Every vote counts.

  1. Thank you Elsa for the AWESOME singing presentation for Heights 4th graders at Core Fair. The performances are always good but this year it was very special, perhaps their beautiful voices singing the preamble. It's a catchy tune and they don't even realize they are learning such an important part of American History. Also appreciated that you thanked the parents/patrons for supporting the music program and for acknowledging the AMAZING 4th grade teachers. Truly a spectacular moment for all.:)
