Leadership Team

Please remind and review with students the upper and lower playground areas. We should not have third and fifth grade student playing soccer or football together. Duty personnel may need to negotiate appropriate compromises to locations. I think if fifth has the football field third should have the soccer field and then fifth grade soccer players will have to use another area and pretend they have soccer goals. First grade students should not be at tetherball or with third and fifth grade soccer fields. This may be more of an issue for those classes that dismiss for recess closer to their "non area". For example, Bruce and Sandy's classes exit closer to the first/second grade area, while Suzette and Stephanie dismiss closer to fourth/fifth grade play areas.

A lot of discussion was given to grade level benchmarks for recall of math facts. We looked at standards and set the following guidelines, but want each grade level to define how many facts will be completed in how much time in order to be considered proficient.
  • First grade will recall addition facts 0-9
  • Second grade will recall subtraction facts from 18
  • Third grade will review and increase speed of addition & subtraction facts
  • Fourth grade will recall multiplication facts to 10
  • Fifth grade will recall multiplication and division facts

Jelena has been working on an idea to promote giving for Haiti. She has come upon an idea she is excited about and has the approval of the Leadership Team. She will be providing you more information soon but it includes pies for teachers.
