Whew!

Yay!  We made it through our first week!  You all did an amazing job preparing the kids for a wonderful year!  I have been so impressed with my class visits.  The kids are well aware of our 3 R's!  The kids were also so proud of, and clearly able to state, their learning.  It is apparent that your classrooms demonstrate authentic inquiry lessons which are meaningful to students.

CONGRATS:
*  Val and Jelena for receiving grants for non-fiction books!
*  Val for having a marriage proposal (stop by my office for a prize for making me smile)
*  Chelsey for being so much like Miss Bindergarten (stop by my office for a prize for making me smile)

TO DO:
* schedule time for OT/SLP services--resource will probably be done during focus times (if this works best for your teams)
* get 3 interests for collaboration groups--by Tuesday
*  complete paperwork from staff handbook
*  send in paper "seats in seats" count for Friday
*  Keep me in the loop...what is going well?  what may we need to revisit? Kid concerns?  Anything else?

TO KNOW:
*  Mentor Orientation--Monday, 26th--MMS Annex A, room 4--3:15
*  BPIS Meeting--Tuesday, 27th @ 8:15--My back office--EA's will cover classes & 5th grade will get prep made up--want to start gold club cards after Labor Day.
*  Teachers in 1st two years meeting--Tuesday, 27th @ 3:00--my back office
*  School Board Election--Tuesday, 27th--gym (remind kids of appropriate guest behaviors)
*  IRI begins next Monday with kindergarten, 1st will be here when done with MCE, 2nd will be here when done with PSE & MCE.  All should be finished next week.  3rd grade schedule needs finished...more to come... (SLP & SpEd--make sure to highlight kids who will test separately)
* Screeners are well under way--beginning with 4th and 5th grades
*  Leadership team meeting--Wednesday, 28th during collaboration--my back office (all others will work in teams to complete norms and develop priority lists for building, grade levels, and classrooms)
*  Sign up to follow G/T blog for chance to win prize--by Aug 30th
*  NO SCHOOL Sept 2--have a great, long weekend!
*  Student Grandparent Booster forms due--Sept 3
*  EA's will not begin regular schedules until Sept 3 as they are doing screeners
