Cinco de Mayo Celebration -
This award is about celebrating together, as a whole school, the behavior efforts of students. Students were asked to wear red, green and white. Some may wear sombreros. We asked for a special lunch (there will be no choice, so list all hot lunches under option A). Sandy picked up and stuffed four Pinatas. We have a small one for morning kindergarten, one for first grade + afternoon kindergarten, a larger one to share for second and third grades as well as a large one for fourth and fifth grades. Calculations are that everyone should be able to receive about two pieces of candy. We can break the pinatas on the grass by the by the football uprights. Follow this schedule -
- 2/3 grade directly following the character assembly.
- AM kindergarten whenever you like
- 1and PM kindergarten at 1:20
- 4/5 grade end of day at 2:45
Next week is National Teacher Appreciation Week - of course there will be small gifts and treats to mark the event, but there is no way to convey all of the pride and emotion I have when I think of what a marvelous, dedicated group of educators work in this building. I have the distinct pleasure of watching you work together to provide a quality education for each of our students. You work amazingly long hours by choice. You work with students during class, recess, lunch and throughout the entire day to make appropriate connections. You spend hours in professional development to continue to hone your craft while on a path of continual improvement. Even the investigating officer from the Office of Civil Rights said that he would love to move here and enroll his child. You use research and brain research to make sure students have the essentials for learning. You are reflective on your lessons and are willing to learn from your colleagues. You amaze me! Please know that all of this and more is greatly appreciated. You are appreciated by me and by the many students and parents in this community.
The Parent Advisory Committee would also like to thank you for your dedicated service by providing you lunch next Thursday. Plan to join us for salads, hamburgers, chirizos and dessert.
Final Report Cards
We need to have all grades completed by Tuesday night, May 14. I will print on Wednesday morning so that you can send them home with the rest of their materials or save to send home on Thursday. Remember that all backpacks and school materials should be sent home on Wednesday since backpacks are not allowed on the buses the last day of school.
The back door will probably be inaccessible for the next week. Make sure you have the proper code for the keyless entry by the gym. The student code does not work before and after school hours. There are three codes - one for students, one for personnel without security system codes and one for personnel who can disarm the security system if they arrive after hours or on weekends. Check with Robin or Lisa if you do not have the proper code.
Remember water will be turned off to the building at 2 P.M. Friday. Make sure students use the restroom prior to this time. Since more students may be using the restroom just prior to 2, bathrooms will need increased monitoring.
