Parent Advisory Meeting

The Parent Advisory Committee met on Tuesday, May 14th to review the carnival and to address the grant requests that you submitted.  There was a lot of discussion surrounding the carnival baskets - what went well and what not so well.  There were a number of errors made that will be addressed for next year, but the main discussion was about the basket money destination directly to the classrooms.  While they believe that it created buy in for parents and teachers it may have limitations.  PAC would like a report out on how the money was spent by teachers.  Not so much for control, but rather to see if it changes the grant requests.  The drawback to designating those amounts directly to the classroom limits the amounts available for big improvement projects.  For example as we looked at adding student tablet (iPads) sets there is significantly less funds available.

Most grants were funded plus some not written.  Here is the spreadsheet of approvals.
  • First grade Nose to Nose assembly was denied.  Student program fees can cover.
  • $300 was set aside to use AS NEEDED for YMCA scholarships in fall fitness incentive.
  • $400 was set aside for a fifth grade field trip (fifth grade needs to determine one aligned to curriculum.)
  • Discussed purchase of sets of 10 tablets for each grade level to share amongst classrooms.  We are waiting for estimates from IT and looking into larger grant availability.

  1. Holy Cow that's a chunk of change! I'm so happy that recorders are funded, and I KNOW Lisa F. will be happy to not have the extra task.
