Water Update

The fountain of water out our back door is getting worse with each day.  We will not be able to wait until school is out.  The District has collected bids for a weekend project.  They will start this Friday.  Therefore, there are some things you will need to know.
  • While the concrete is torn up, you will be asked to enter and exit through the cafeteria doors near the gym.  Dave and his crew will make sure the gate is unlocked and alarms are disarmed before you arrive.
  • Concrete will be torn up beginning at 1:00 on Friday with water turned off to the building at 2:00p.
  • Turning off the water means that staff and students should not use the restrooms after this time.  This will give us one hour, so plan with students to have taken care of needs prior and reduce drinking additional water unless it creates a health concern.  In case of an emergency a student could be allowed to use the restroom but would not be able to flush until Monday, so we prefer to avoid this if at all possible.
  • The project will target to finish late afternoon on Sunday.  Until the concrete is torn up and they reveal the true problem, all of the timing is a best guess.
  • There is always the possibility that they will not finish on time and we would start Monday morning without water.  Dr. Bauscher, Barb Bumbgardner and I are working on this 'what if' scenario".  Most likely we would have port-a-potties and bottled water brought in with snack and lunches prepared off site and delivered.   The bids are to complete on Sunday.
I will send out a message to parents via Skyward and might be able to get the Newsletter ready to send home Thursday as well.  We want to be careful to not have students miss the day due to fear, so if you communicate anything, state that the water will be off for an hour or less. I don't think you need to communicate anything besides my notifications, though.
