Can you believe that we celebrate "Administrative Professionals Day" with a carnival?  It doesn't seem quite fair that one of Lisa's toughest weeks of the year is the week that we take a few moments to honor her.  Thankfully, we have a wonderful sidekick, Yvonne who helps relieve so much of the stress around the building.  While we honor them this coming week, maybe find a special act of kindness to bestow upon them.  Thank you Lisa and Yvonne for your dedicated, selfless service to our staff, students and community.

I hope you all enjoyed this last three day weekend of the school year.   It is amazing how quickly the end of the year is approaching.  So much to do.  So little time.  Hang in there - we will make it together.

Carnival week:  Thank you for all of your help and support.  One more week to make it a success.  Please make sure the pre ticket notes get home in Monday folders.  Baskets need to be submitted Monday - Tuesday at the latest.  The ladies will be here to wrap them up real pretty for display and advertising.  Some teachers have advertised to pad the auction audience to bid on their baskets.  :)  We will need help the night of the carnival to sell tickets, greet families or help with the auction details.  I would love to see you there.  I am attending a leadership conference out of state this week, but have adjusted my flight so that I will be here for the carnival.


I have tried to keep the calendar up to date with end of the year dates as I receive them.  Note that the first grade IRI projected dates have shifted to the following week.  As grade levels give me information I have included it also.   I could use some help getting these put on the calendar for custodians.  They don't always see the blog and I don't always write it in multiple locations.  So grade levels that are doing night events, please make sure these get placed on the hall calendar.  Even some of our day events should be communicated if they will effect others.

Would primary classroom teachers please give a brief talk to your class about how to appropriately interact with adults on the playground.  We all want to hug and connect with the students but we have more trouble when we have young men working in our schools.  Colton is beginning to experience this with the new attention, mostly by girls.  They are hugging and hanging on him - they become hard to shake off because they think it is cute or funny.  While Colton (and other male teachers) are happy to interact with the children, we need to help the students differentiate behaviors associated with friends, uncles, and fathers from appropriate behavior toward staff members.  This will also assist him with authority in the classroom.

If you are planning to attend the Peak training the first week of June will you please shoot me an email so I can make sure you are on the list.  We are beginning to advertise to other Districts in a hope to influence as many classrooms as possible.

Thank you Stephanie S. for making the hallway expectations video.  We have yet to get it transferred to the t:drive, but we will soon.  Continue to reinforce hallway and bathroom expectations.  We had fewer bathroom behavior referrals this past week.  :)

Next week our door keypads should be programmed.  Nick has been working to gain the software, learn the software and now utilize the software.  This has not been an easy project.  We will have three different aces codes.  One for students that will work 8-3:00 on school days only; one for classified staff with extended time and then one for certified that are in the security system and could undo the alarm if they came in after hours.  We will pass out codes and let you know when the project is complete.

Please be careful coming in and out the back door.  The excessive water is from a possible break in a city line.  To fix it they will have to tear out the sidewalk in that area and dig under.  So obviously, maintenance would like to postpone until school is out.  Hopefully the temperatures will quit dropping so low and we won't have to worry about ice;  just wear wading boots.
