Thursday, March 14, 2013

Tomorrow or today, depending on when you read this, we have the Notus teachers as our guests.  They will visit from 8:00-11:00.  Some may choose to stay longer.  This is a professional development opportunity for them.  I will give them starting points for the grade level and then you can share them by sending them to other rooms.  If you are available to talk with them, please do.  Otherwise they can observe.  To start (and what they want to see):
  • K - Aitchison (writing process) -  Burke
  • 1 - VanderWoude - Brocke/Anderson
  • 2 - Parker - Anderson / Pfeifer
  • 3 - George (subject integration - Foster
  • 4 - Golden - Brocke
          • 5 - Rohe - Creekmore/Waters
          • 5/6 Christensen - Combe
          • 6 - Landa (math/science) - Navratil

Report Cards need to be completed by Saturday night.  I will schedule  Sunday to pull Hawks tickets and run report cards.  They will be in your box for Monday morning to be sent home in Monday folders.

Next Friday, March 22 is the first of two inclement weather make up days.  By policy you are allowed to take a personal day rather than attend.  I have scheduled the work according to your vote.  We will spend some time sharing out regarding Core Knowledge Fair and then you will have time as grade level teams to work on math unit studies and Kim Sutton math practices.  If you plan on using the videos you will need to coordinate and share with other grade levels.  We will have a chance to figure that out Friday morning.  It will be regular work hours but you may dress casual.

Wednesday - First Day of Spring!!

PEAK training is scheduled for June 3-6.  I highly recommend that you reserve these dates.  The professional development available to you during this time should prove invaluable.  I will arrange for two credits through NNU which should be available for your seat time.

I will need your grade level consumable orders shortly after spring break.  Begin to consider what you will need and use for next year.  In the past you have been quite frugal and we applied money toward computer program licenses.  I would like some feedback and suggestions on intervention programs also.  Due date for consumable orders is April 18th.

SWPBIS Report
Check out this data from SWIS and your PBIS team.  This chart shows the average daily ODR (referral forms).  What you need to notice is  the significant drop in referrals since beginning the Hawks Tickets and providing specific positive praise for following expectations.  The team is doing behavior expectation fidelity checks - asking students to name expectations from the charts and matrix.  Are the students from your room able to name three bathroom expectations (text dependent answers.)
