I ran out of time on Tuesday and forgot to follow my agenda to the bottom, thus left off a bit of information from our Emergency Operations Manual (EOM) meeting.  Starting Friday the back staff and kitchen doors will remain locked.  We will leave them open while most of us are arriving and will lock them around eight o'clock.  We have had door bells installed at these two locations so deliveries and necessary guests can be allowed access.  The bells are separate for the kitchen and office.  If you hear the beautiful chime, please help us open the door.  As we train the public, if you let a parent in, politely inform them that this is for student safety and we would appreciate them trying to use the front entry.  Sick kids, kids on crutches, handicapped visitors, etc. should be allowed in and out with a polite acknowledgement and help.  Next week small windows will be added to the doors of the modular.  This will provide some visibility for them to check who is knocking at the door.   Very soon we will have two key pads installed, one on the gym door and the other at the entry for the cafeteria.  I will be able to schedule the code so that it can only be used during school hours on school days.  After these are installed we will keep both of those doors locked also.  Students will be able to code into the gym for bathrooms, staff will be able to code into the lunchroom for flow through that area.

Other stuff you should know:

• The College of Idaho is looking for placements for two preservice teachers.  They need to do 20 hours of field work, teaching four literacy lessons between February 11th and May 10th.  The hours would be arranged between teacher and student.  They are requesting kindergarten and third grade.  Is anyone willing to accept these students?
• Many of you attended the Expanding Expressions Tool training on Wednesday.  We currently have four kits.  Kindergarten, first grade, SLP and one in my office.  I would love to see some of your instruction or results as you implement.  Sara, inventor and our trainer is really open to helping us succeed with this.  If you have questions let me know.  Share your success and let me know your needs for further implementation. 
• I'm way late on advertising this - Aaron sent me a flyer for a workshop geared toward teachers of ELL students.  If you think you would be interested and benefit from this, please let me know soon.  
• There are some great opportunities showing up on the IT Blog and in your email box for technology integration courses.  These are scaffolded to support the technaphobe as well as challenge or inspire the techninspired.   In addition to these great offerings, Stephanie is helping organize some collaboration around iPad apps and uses.  I will apply for a credit if you want credit for your time but it is not necessary in order to participate.  The purpose to app collaboration, is to share what you are finding for EDUCATIONAL use and that you measure the quality of the app to meet learning, motivation, management and organizational needs.   
• Make sure your Hawks tickets are in the tumbler by end of day Friday.  I also need your ticket poster returned to my mailbox so we can apply the winning tickets for next week.  I will have them for you on Tuesday. Winners get to wear hats on Wednesday.
