Thursday, December 13, 2012

Christmas is the season to celebrate so many wonderful things in our lives.  Next Wednesday, December 19th we will host a staff celebration; a chance to look back over our accomplishments and celebrate successes (before making those new year's resolutions).   First we will have an all staff meeting, before collaboration.  This meeting is sponsored by the SWPBIS committee to update you with information and prepare for a launch of the new acknowledgement program to start January 7, 2013.

Reminder that there is a lunch on Monday sponsored by Prepaid Legal.  You must sign up by Friday.  They will pick up the orders Friday afternoon to be prepared for Monday.  Lunch will be available in the library.   No obligation, just a free lunch and chance to win a gift card.

The SWPBIS fidelity checks for bathroom rules resulted in 15 out of 16 students (94%) knew 2 bathroom rules.  Those who knew answers were asked there teacher name - the teachers caught teaching are Kayla, Bruce, Lisa, Shauna, Cathy, Jenna, Val, Kyle, and Catherine.  Great news! Great Job!  Next week we focus on Open Library Expectations, but continue to reinforce the expectations for lining up; lining up is where we have many of our quick incidents.

Next Tuesday we will have a few visitors (student teachers completing their assignments ts Mill Creek) who will be here to tour a few classrooms and check out single-sex offerings.  Just a heads up.  They may want to sit in and watch a bit.  Feel free to put them to work.  :)

Today the radio station KTSY was running spots to seek Christmas help for many non-profit organizations in the Treasure Valley.  These programs help homeless, children of incarcerated parents, foster children and adults with disabilities.  Jen was actually on the radio representing LINC trying to fill needs from two of her clients.  They were successful in acquiring a box-spring but her client still needs pots and pans to furnish his kitchen to live independently.  I am just checking to see if anyone has a used set or a used pot that they would be able to donate to this man.  If so, let me know and I'll make the connections.  Can you imagine having used pots and pans on your Christmas list?

Next Wednesday M-CHAT is sponsoring and evening with Officer Jermaine Galloway.  Last year I shared the results of a workshop I attended by this man.  He is a local authority on the drug culture - products targeting our children, clothing, emblems and paraphernalia.  I highly recommend this presentation for you and for the parents in our community.  It will take place in the High School auditorium at 7:00 P.M.

Hope to see you at the staff Christmas party Friday!
