The social committee met after school on Tuesday to plan the next staff party. After some investigative work they determined that bowling and party at Big Al's was a bit out of our price range. After discussing other options they have set the party for Friday night, December 14th. We talked about coming to your house but without a formal invitation will focus on the use of the Foote establishment again. This is a staff + spouse (or other) event. I will provide the main course of dinner (most likely BBQ from Famous Dave's) and have everyone fill in with appetizers or desserts as well as bring the beverage of your choice. Games and prizes will be available but we are just as happy to have you come and just sit and share your company. Please try to come even if just for a bit. We do need a general head count to figure food quantities so please mark the poll on the side of bar.

Mid term grades should have been available for parents this week.  If you have students of concern, please verify that you have made connections or communicated with parents.  The semester ends on Friday, December 21st - the last day before Christmas break.  Please plan to complete grades in your grade books, as well as comments, by end of day Wednesday, December 19th.  We will check them on Thursday for errors and then be ready to print and post following attendance on Friday the 21st.

The question was raised in how ATTENDANCE is spelled for the popcorn prize.  The letters do not need to be acquired consecutively.  Your class earns a letter for every day that all students are in attendance all day (on time and do not leave early).  Once you get ten days and spell out attendance, shoot Yvonne and I an email.  We will put you on the popcorn list for Friday and add your name to the assembly announcements.

We have a parade work session planned for next Wednesday after school.  In the past we have met at Lisa's to decorate the float.  This year the work will need to be done at the school, most likely the library, before setting out for the social aspect of the work night.  If you can make yourself available to work together for awhile it always proves to be a bonding experience.  :)  It takes a little bit of all of us to pull this off.  Wednesday and/or Saturday participation is appreciated.

Next week we review assembly expectations. This is an excellent lead into Friday's Character Assembly. Presenters have been asked to keep the assembly short, but there are a few extra presentations so plan to be slightly longer than usual. I need all Gold Club applications turned in Friday, November 30th, so that I can get feedback from others before printing up the list and making cards.

I am out all of next week for a Blue Ribbon Schools conference in Florida. If flights connect correctly, I should be back in time for the parade. If you need anything in my absence you can still contact me by email, text messaging or phone. Please watch out for Bruce in my absence - he tends to wander off task.
