Update from Admin Meeting

Thank you maintenance department for you work in placing our new modular unit.  This is a huge task but added space for our classrooms.  Bad news is we are filling up again with limited space still.  The maintenance department also coordinated with two Eagle Scout projects during the summer.  Our front planters are complete with updates and one scout began work on expanding our playground equipment boxes to meet the safety standards.  If you remember we got demerits for this last year on our safety inspection.  We have new soffall coming next week to meet requirements.

There are new USDA guidelines that will effect our food service programs and lunchroom procedures. We will need to coordinate with the kitchen in designing new flow patterns.  We made changes a couple of years ago to assist with behaviors and it had a big impact.  I think we need to be proactive in making decisions this year.  The kitchen is now required to make sure that students take a cup of fruit or vegetables when served.  In order to verify student servings they must move the cashier to the end of the line and the Heart Smart Cart to the front.  :)  Let's think quickly about how this looks with cards and lines and traffic flow.

We have been approved to add the first grade teacher.  This will be great news to the twenty-one parents who had children assigned to room six.  Kyle Martin will accept a transfer within our building and fill this spot.  We will revert to our part-time kindergarten position which has been posted throughout the summer.  Hopefully we can fill this again soon.
I am also watching and hoping to add additional staff to the fourth and fifth grade team.  Our classes are HUGE.  We need four more fifth grade students prior to gaining approval.  Can you find us a fifth grade out of District student or in-district willing to change buildings?

If your main district computer is a laptop and you have NOT yet turned it in for updates (it was due August 8th) these need to be brought to the IT office now.  There is no guarantee that you will have it for the start of school if you do not turn it is as required.
