Don't Stack those Coats!!

Lisa and Yvonne have taken heroic efforts to screen classrooms today due to an outbreak of head lice.  They were only able to get to the kindergarten and first grade rooms.  With a three day weekend we should be able to break this cycle.  Please take note of the following things that can help.
  • Don't allow students to stack or pile coats.  Although lice need a human host to survive they can live long enough to travel coat to coat.
  • Tell students to not share hats, scarves, etc.
  • Bag up any stuffed animals or pillows in your classrooms for  two weeks.
  • Check cubbies for extra coats and bag those up if they didn't get taken home.
  • For a few weeks you might have students store their coats on their chairs rather than in the coat closets.
