Updates from Administrator's Meeting 10/4/2011

Technology: There has been numerous security breeches to teacher log-ins.  You will be required to change District passwords in the next two weeks.  You will receive a note when you log in to Novell, Skyward Finance, and Skyward Employee Access.  The biggest concern is that your personal information is tied to one of these accounts.  Begin thinking of your new passwords, something that can not be easily guessed.  Here are some points to remember.

  • NEVER allow students to use your teacher machine.  We have different rights and filters applied to teacher and student machines.
  • Use DIFFERENT passwords for Skyward Finance, Novell and Skyward grade book programs.  Your Novell password can be the same as your Groupwise.  This will be another step in securing your personal financial information.
  • Do NOT share your passwords with others.  Substitutes have log-ins and do not need yours to access projectors.
  • If you write down your passwords for reference SECURE this list in a locked drawer, your phone, in your wallet or other such location.  Do not leave your list beside your computer or on your desk.  If this list is lost or compromised, notify I.T. and they will reset passwords for you.
Projectors are available for instructional purposes.  The bulbs are $300 each.  If you leave the room or switch tasks, please turn off the projector.  Projectors should not be used for before/after school hours of entertainment.  I love seeing the variety of uses you have found to enhance learning with this technology.  I encourage you to continue using them effectively.

It appears that Score Tracker, the new RTI data base program should be ready to roll out in the next week or two.  I am excited for you to see how all the data you have been collecting can be sorted and used for decisions with the click of a mouse.
