Character Assembly has been moved from Friday to next Monday!
Almost half of our teaching staff will be gone on Friday and we felt that this would not be a wise way to have our first assembly or to start what could be a difficult day anyway. Looks like everyone will be back Monday (except me). Here is what you need to know for this assembly and those to follow:
- Come directly to the gym after the tardy bell. Take attendance and lunch count when you return.
- West end classrooms please go out and around, entering the gym from the west door.
- We will have "assigned seating" for all assemblies. Where your class sits for this is where they will sit for most assemblies.
- Our goal is to be out of there in 20 minutes. We will do the pledge, Wise Words, Buddy Class skits, Gold Club honors, marathon honors and citizenship announcement. Citizenship patches and t-shirts will be handed out following the assembly. Gold Club members will be announced last and asked to come down to the floor. We will keep them for the monthly picture while everyone else is dismissed back to their class.
- Again exit through the door you entered.
Red Ribbon Week activities were approved and will be placed in a separate post.
Halloween!! This year we are in session on this fun day. The team was unanimous in acknowledging the day and allowing students to have a good time. If you send out parent newsletters you might include this information, as it was not in the school newsletter sent home today.
- Fourth and fifth grade will have a carnival. Students will design and host games, earn tickets through behavior choices and sign up to provide the treats. They will be in the lunchroom from 1:30-2:52.
- Kindergarten through second grade will have the parade of costumes and some may do the Red Ribbon Week activity of Tailgating for red foods.
- Third grade will get creative.
- Costumes should be BROUGHT to school not worn. Recommend masks. Face paint and hair color should not be included due to time constraints and application issues. No dangerous props. Encourage some healthy snacks if possible. All parties (except AM kindergarten) will be after the last recess.
Final topic was events for the school calendar.
- Family Math Night, October 17th. You are welcome to come, but PLEASE encourage family participation.
- Fifth grade year end award assembly and kindergarten graduations.
- Character assemblies, first Friday of the month. Starting at 8:15 and lasting no longer than 20 minutes.
- Fitness Picnics. Talk of scheduling on site using the extra 3 acres or the gym if inclement weather.
- Carnival is scheduled for late April
- Extravaganza - yes, probably. No date determined.
- Core Knowledge Fair - recieved the most discussion. Please talk to your rep for details. We will schedule it but want feedback as to when. Content represented? Also discussed how teachers need to protect the learning targets to be for students and for us not to get so caught up into making it bigger and bigger. We are in control. Also talked about teaching now, pacing and saving projects.
Thanks Leadership Team for your open conversations and planning.
