This may be short tonight, so check back Monday morning for items I may add through the weekend (or as I'm scheduled to work till 4:00 on Friday).
Excellent job on making Red Ribbon Week more than silly dress up days. Classes walked the track for information. Teachers led the writing process with the RRW prompts. Students took pride in the 'posters' they made with each letter. It was fun to see them point out their letter and signature to parents. Conversations in classrooms included healthy choices. One kindergarten teacher asked what it means to be drug free. They said it is not smoking, not drinking beer and not drinking whisky. Amazing the drugs they can list. But my favorite of all is the buddy door decorating activities. I loved being in rooms watching older students work with younger students creating and connecting. Your designs were fabulous. The judges were amazed with the creativity which made it very difficult to select winners. We will announce the winners Monday morning.
Next Friday is our Character Assembly. Since we missed certificates this week, maybe we can give them on Thursday with Wise Words. Remember to bring your class straight to the gym Friday (doing attendance and lunch count when you return) and sit in your designated area. We need teachers to designate which students have earned their patch for October. Yvonne will get those forms in your boxes. Please, return them to her as soon as possible. I'll scurry up some ironing help and we will encourage students to BRING their shirts to get their patch.Sandy and Scott are the buddies in charge of kicking of Patriotism/Citizenship month.
Our next two collaboration sessions are again full staff. These will focus on the New Common Core State Standards as they relate to math and MTI strategies. These are in preparation for working on the unit studies with your team and math coach support.
