Yesterday a team of six assisted me in conducting interviews to fill the vacancy left by Joe. That is a pretty big hole to fill, but we did our very best. I must say that there are some great candidates out there which made the decision very difficult. I am very pleased to be able to recommend to the School Board on Monday night the name of Charles Scott Brocke to hire. Scott is extremely excited to have the opportunity to work this staff and to work directly with our first grade all boys classroom. When asked about his preference for teaching assignments, his heart goes to those boys. (We think he must get enough of the girl stuff at home.) He will be an outstanding role model to the students and a great asset to the first grade team.
Stephanie Burke requested and will move back to kindergarten and teach the all day/every day class. Since she taught the Jump Start and IRI intervention groups last year she has experience with extending the learning for our at risk students.
At the July board meeting the District hired Angelee Davis to serve as counselor for all three elementary schools. Yesterday we designed a schedule that will have Angie at the Heights all day Thursday and mornings on Friday. Second semester she will switch from Friday morning to Friday afternoon.
Title I funds will also provide an RtI Assistant to help each school with probes and data. Nina Hatchett, which many of you will remember, will be in our school on Mondays and Wednesday to conduct the RtI probing and data entry to Aimsweb. It will be fun to have Nina back in our building.
I am sad to report that Cindy Stewart has been moved from the kitchen at Heights to Mill Creek. We will be welcoming Eva Law back to our kitchen.
We still have an half time kindergarten and the special education assistant positions open.

ReplyDeleteWelcome Scott! and Good move, Robin! How fortunate we are to have you.
ReplyDeleteWow! Won't those first grade boys be so lucky to have such a great role model? I am so happy to hear that Stephanie Burke has found a permanent place she will LOVE in our building! I am just sick to see Cindy go from our cafeteria....but welcome back to Eva.
