Who Pays for What???

Many of you have asked how to decide from which funding source to ask for money or items. Since your requests are so varied it is difficult to list hard and fast rules.  The key point is to ask if you need or want something for your classroom.  Here is some guiding information for you to use in making requests. 

• School Budgets: all curriculum and supplies should come from this category; items such as text books, supplemental books, markers, graph paper, items for Foss kits, etc.   Requisition forms are on the t:drive/shared/district forms.  Complete and turn into Lisa or Robin
• PAC grants: these often fund extras that support the curriculum; field trips, incentives, quieting headphones, Lego brick labs, etc.  Turn these into Robin by end of day Monday.
• Outside grants: anything you want that we can write for; field trip mileage, art supplies, technology, etc.  When we receive grant money we not only fund that project but are able to use our funds for other items.  Check out the donorschoose.com website or the Limeades for learning.  There are available grants for almost everything and many do not take large amounts of time or grant writing skills.
• PTA wish list:  Our PTA is putting together a teacher wish list to advertise for parent, grandparent or community funding.  You can add any classroom needs, but unique and affordable ideas will be the quickest to fund.  Do you want a book series, DVDs, puppets, paints, desk organizers, composition books, etc.  They hope to have your lists available starting at registration and maintaining throughout the year.  You may submit your ideas to me for now.  We will get a PTA representative later.
