Last week I received the results of the surveys taken by district staff members.  I was pretty surprised at some of our school results and I will share them with you soon. I have been processing some of the numbers in my head and trying to figure out the best way to utilize the data for improvement.  I hope to be able to ask you some clarifying questions, before developing my personal improvement plan.  The numbers themselves do not provide enough information.  The survey taken by certified staff indicated some dissatisfaction in how money is spent at our school.  I'm not sure if that means you do not have what you need for instructional purposes, if you feel money is being wasted or if you just want to see the budgets and have a voice in purchases and spending categories.  Please answer the poll question to help provide insight.  Now is the time to be completing PAC grants, submitting requisitions (T:drive), and taking advantage of other funding sources.  Jayna and Suzette have acquired outside funding for special projects during this past year.

We have some Boy Scouts looking for Eagle Scout projects.  If you have an idea of something they can organize and coordinate as a school improvement project (community service) please send me your ideas.  I have a couple ideas such as designing and installing a vertical climbing wall or reworking our planter areas in the front of the building.

The High School Show Choir is advertising a choir camp for elementary students.  They will be doing a quick district tour next Wednesday to sing and share information.  If you are interested in bringing your class to hear them perform, they will perform in the gym at 9:30.  Please send me a quick email letting me know if you plan to attend.

We began doing our citizenship assembly the first Friday of each month.  We skipped April, due to the professional character assembly arranged.  Next Friday is carnival Friday (and I'm scheduled out of the building).  I need to hear from your grade level as to whether you want to go ahead with the assembly or if you would like a modified version (announce most over intercom and then announce Gold Club members and post card acknowledgement during lunch somehow.) We will still have ISAT and IRI taking place also.

  1. I would like to have the assembly. I have a lot of students who have earned their marathon and two classes who have special recognition for Mighty Milers

  4. I have parents asking when the assembly is so they can see their child receive their silver and gold running medals. I vote "yes" to have an assembly.
