Lego Grant Opportunity

We (via Angie) have been working with Susie from PCS Edventures who does training in the use of brick Labs (Lego Lab specifically designed for classroom integration of math and science.) We have an excellent opportunity to get in on the ground floor in the writing of a grant that will fund materials and extensive training toward the use of brick labs aligned with MTI philosophies and practices. There are strong indications that this grant will be appropriated through STEM. "The goal of STEM Project Grant is to encourage and facilitate the development and enhancement of science, technology, engineering and math activities within the state of Idaho."

It is also a strong possibility that we could be chosen as a partner school. Participating schools would be afforded training, materials and support for up to three years. Participating staff members would be expected to attend a week long training during one of the first two weeks of August. This training would include either a significant teacher stipend or a lesser stipend with up to three available credits. Thirty hours of training would take place during the summer week with an additional 15 hours of support during the school year.

Currently they are assessing faculty “buy in” and require at least one participating teacher from each grade level (kindergarten excluded at this time) in order to be considered. Although grant status will not be revealed until March, we need to determine the interest level of our certified staff.
