Next week is American Education Week. The purpose is to highlight the importance of education and focus on the people who help educate American youth. These people include teachers, classified employees, substitutes, and volunteers. The Parent Advisory Committee would like to provide lunch for each of you next Tuesday as a way to thank you for the difference you make in our school and classrooms. No need to pack your lunch on Tuesday.

Apangea math training will be offered next Wednesday at Mill Creek in the computer lab from 2:00-3:45. You are welcome to attend. This program is designed for advanced fourth grade students through high school.

Lunchroom changes and training coming soon. Some of the classified staff have been working with a problem solving model during collaboration. The first problem they have defined and are working with are lunchroom procedures and behaviors. During the process they uncovered the fact that they could not identify the expectations nor do they believe that expectations have been taught to all students. This team will work on some details the next week and then would like to teach expectations to students BEFORE lunch Monday, November 23rd.

As part of our Schoolwide Title I improvement plan, our Reading Coach, Rebecca Denlinger will offer EA reading workshops during the year. The first is scheduled next Wednesday during collaboration. I would like ALL classified staff who work directly with students to attend. If you are a part time employee and can adjust your time so that you can attend I would appreciate it.

The calendar at the bottom of the Blog contains current information. You can click on different views to see a week, a month, or an agenda. You can move forward to future months. I am trying to put in all the information about an event. You should be able to click on an item select more details and see time, place, or person responsible. For example if you go to December 12th, click on the staff party you will see that it is a potluck style party. Location will be added when I am notified. This should be a good source for some of that timely information that you "forgot where you read that".

We will do a schoolwide write the morning of the Direct Writing Assessment, December 1, 2009. Please plan to complete before lunch.

Christmas parade is right around the corner. We need to meet Monday after school for initial planning. Bring some easy winning ideas to the library at 3:00.
