Centralized Registration/Opening Schedule/Draft Master Schedule

Well...the time is here!  Lisa and I begin contract time 8/1, and EAs will be on staff to help with centralized registration next week.

Staff Changes:

Leaving:
*  Darcy Atkinson--She's moved to Meridian and has decided to dedicate her time to her family.

*  Leti Bailey--I did not get an opportunity to find out what her new venture will be.

*  Glendi White--Her husband has relocated to Idaho Falls, and of course, she's following.

We are in the process of posting all these positions, and hopefully, we'll be fully staffed soon!  If you know anyone who would be wonderful, encourage them to apply and let me know.

EA Schedule:
Following is the EA schedule for next week.  Please look for a detailed schedule for all staff in the mail this weekend.

8/5--Registration Training (Lisa, Yvonne)
8/5 - 8/8  Computer EAs on duty

8/7--Centralized Registration at MMS (8:30 - 4:00--lunch provided)  Dona at Heights to answer phones and direct people to registration location.  Konnie & Rhonda help at MMS.

Draft Master Schedule:
I am attaching a draft schedule for 1st quarter.  I've had input from several staff members, but I would like everyone to preview, discuss with your team, and let me know...Remember this is only a draft...

My goals:
* Create additional team time
* Provide a prep for each teacher each day (some teachers have different preps than others in the same grade level; however, each quarter will switch, so it does all balance out with computer and counseling).
* Keep prep time the same time of day as much as possible (In order to keep a running schedule, Wednesday is a bit of a hodge podge but everyone will have a prep--teachers will still be required to go out with kids during running).
* 3rd, 4th, 5th will have a block of media time--librarian will not only teach library skills, but will also provide computer research and technology use, including digital devices--kids in all grades will also check out books during library time. (There will also be open library time for kids to check out books beyond scheduled time and for teachers to use with classes)
* Computer class will be a teacher prep where kids learn computer skills and utilize educational software (There will be computers available for teachers to use with classes during the day as needed).
* Blocked focus group time--this is for reading class switch based on abilities for skills being taught.  Specialist and EAs will also help these groups during non-teaching/non-prep time.
* Provide character education in all grades
* Focus group time for math will also be added, but teachers will determine when that best fits in their schedules.
