Don't forget - the October Character Assembly is scheduled for NEXT Wednesday at 8:15.  Please bring your class straight to the gym.  We will try to be as efficient as last time.  We will acknowledge our first round of Gold Club members.  It is important that each of us find ways to reward these students.  Schoolwide ideas are, tour new students, free bathroom pass, three library books, trusted by substitutes.  The PBIS team also decided that in place of t-shirts, all students who maintain strong character throughout the month will achieve a special grade level event.  A free recess (used to be green recess) can be made available on Wednesdays for those students, but I can't have all the students out at the same time.



TTM (previously Apangea) training is scheduled October 8 @ 3pm in our computer lab.  This program is appropriate for students in grades 3-5.  It is aligned to the new CCSS and can be used for student intervention or advancing students.  There are many incentives to encourage student use at home.

Next Thursday and Friday our Boise State Writing Project Fellows, Jelena and Kim will be leading us in the next phase of CCSS training.  We will review the work of the summer and build upon it toward the inquiry units for social studies and science.  Plan to work 8-3:45 as these are regular contract days.   Classified staff are not scheduled for these days.


Just an update on Tevin's presence in our school - it is great to have him working with us and connecting with our tough kids on a daily basis.  Tevin has been hired by special education as a temporary employee.  Tammie Morin has agreed to be his direct supervisor with Greg in charge of IEP oversight for the student.  If you have any concerns you may address myself or either of these people.  We want to make sure that nepotism is not an issue with his work assignment.

We have been selected to participate again in the Scratch for Schools program of the Idaho Lottery.  I need a couple of scratching volunteers on October 11th to attend this event at The College of Idaho.  We need a minimum of three, two scratchers and at least one support staff to assist.  Let me know if you are interested and have a strong arm or lots of luck.

Speaking of The College of Idaho, the intro to education class has seven teachers that they would like to place in our classrooms again for their first experience.  The expectation is for them to watch and learn, work with students and teach one short lesson toward the end of their experience.  They will be here to tour on the 18th and then begin in classrooms on Tuesdays and Thursdays for five weeks.  If you are willing to help, please shoot me an email.  Thank you.
