There is a lot of information, professional development and work coming up regarding the MTI unit studies. As you should know, each grade level sent a representative to the regional until study training October 6-7. Teachers were willing to be trained and then to come back and work with their colleagues to advance the knowledge. According to the recent poll, all but two teachers have completed the MTI classes. Yet it was evident at the regional meeting that teachers are looking for additional training and support with the teaching of math concepts to a deeper level. In response, Middleton will be hosting a series of classes and you may take any or all but must complete 6 of 7 if taking for credit. Child care will also be available. Please look this over soon and email the instructor if you are interested. It will be opened up to others outside the District after Tuesday. (Please note that the March date will change due to possible addition of P/T conferences in Middleton.)
Most of us worked last June to map the new Common Core Standards to our 'text' and work with quality assessments. The District has received a grant to hire math coaches to assist us with this and allow us to focus on the unit study. I have arranged with Cathy Beals to work with grade level teams throughout the year beginning in November. Please make note of the following schedule and let me know of necessary adjustments.
