PBIS Meeting Notes

Thank you Bruce, Kim, Susan, Cheryl, and Angie for your input and work during our PBIS committee meeting Monday.  We will meet the third Monday of each month at 3pm.   Here are the highlights of our first meeting.  If you have questions or feedback, please talk to your representative.

• Character shirts will be ready the first of next week.  Remind staff that these are covered in the PBIS document (see RTI/PBIS page of the blog) discussed at the first of the year.
• Class lists will be placed in your box the last Friday of the month.  You will indicate which students have earned their character patch for that month according to your class records.  We will take out any student names with office referrals or bus citations. Turn in your approved class list no later than Wednesday of the following week.
• We discussed the new SWIS behavior referral form.  Added Music to the list of locations.  Staff members who deal with an incident fill out the form (not just the classroom teacher).  Consider all infractions that are on the form not just office referrals.  Place these in Yvonne's box so that she can enter the data and then she will return to the classroom teacher for filing.
• Character Assemblies will be the first Friday of each month (according to the recent poll).  Bring your class to the gym ASAP and seated quickly.  We are trying to take no more than 20 minutes. 
• Assembly will cover pledge, Wise Words, Buddy class presentations, Gold Club membership and special honors (AR milkshakes +, marathon medals, etc.)  We will NOT do AR certificates, Mighty Miler certificates, or individually identify character badges of the month since we expect all to earn this.
• AR certificates will be announced and given out the other three Fridays of the month.  
• Kim and I are going to work on some ideas to give honor to our Gold Club Members.  Please check your email as to reminders for referrals and signing forms.  It was brought up that you may need to talk to your Gold Club kind of kid and encourage them to apply. 
• Buddy classes are posted on the RTI/PBIS page and in the left column from last week.  I have included the assembly presentation schedule on that document.  Lisa and Catherine are first with October.  If Suzette and Val would like to do something for Responsibility let me know, otherwise you are off the hook for this year.
