Information from Administrator's Meeting

The MEA finally ratified the new MOU regarding the jobs bill money.  The Board is expected to approve it tonight.  New 2010-2011 contracts will be issued.  The certified additional 7.5 days will most likely be included in your April check in one lump sum.  Three things this may effect:
  • you may need to change your tax status with Terrie for the month of April
  • if you are not attending all 7.5 days and do not have personal days to cover you will have the difference deducted again from your check.
  • your signed "new" contract will have to be returned very quickly in order to make the April pay period.
The new law is complex and lengthy.  Here are a few things we do know:
  • Issuing continuing teacher contract dates changed from May 15th to July 1st.
  • Technology money, although stated as having options, effects staffing budgets.
  • All discretionary funding effected, this includes building budgets.
  • The percent of cuts given to teachers are to also be taken from building admin.
  • Law requires money to be put into technology and professional development.
  • Law took effect already and is in effect until at least November 2012
Key bank is offering district employees free and discounted banking services for personal banking.  If you are interested see flyer in faculty room.

  1. Thanks for the great info. I'm curious about the mention of changing teacher contract days from May 15 to July 1. What does this mean?

  2. The change in date means that the District will not issue contracts until the summer and you will most likely receive them in the mail. I of course will send text messages and post for anyone that would rather stop by and sign them. I will do my best to share any information I have as it effects each of you.
