Leadership Meeting Notes

Core Knowledge Fair date tentatively set for Thursday, March 17th.  This is the last day of the quarter.  No school Friday for students or classified employees.  We have a four day week the following week for students to tour projects and clean up remaining items before spring break.  Feel free to give us feed back as the date begins to set.

Question raised as to how to show Discovery.com items before school, yet switch to Skyward for attendance without projecting confidential information.  Stephanie Burke suggested using the "Blank" button.

RtI questions -
  • I-Plans, when and how to write I-Plans.  These are individual plans and not necessary for everyone.  As your team looks at data, implements interventions and some students fail to respond, then we would look at writing a formal I-Plan and we will be sure your representative gets answers to how and when as we go.
  • Intervention support - will classified personnel be assigned a grade level?  Intervention time was set aside for each grade level so that both Title I and Resource can have at least one person available to help with groups.  That could be Greg or an assigned EA and Cindy or an assigned EA.  Beyond that I can't answer questions about progress monitoring and support until I know plans and needs.  What are you doing for intervention?  What does the data indicate?  What instruction is necessary?  How will you progress monitor - with current assessments or something else?  For example if you are working on sight words and you already check "Turtle Words" that could be your progress monitoring and nothing else would be needed.
Finally there was some talk about student day increase of time and the effect on teachers.  I do realize that it is difficult to walk through the door and "be on call".  I feel the same if I don't have settle time to my morning.  As contracted salaried employees your work day is considered 7.75 hours a day with a 50 minute prep period and 30 minute duty free lunch.  Your 50 minutes has traditionally been 2:55-3:45.  If you would like to adjust your day to be 7:30-3:15 so as to frontload the day I can work with you.  It would break up your 50 minutes by your choice. I would need you to set this up with me, so we know who to expect when.  The only problem would be staff or committee meetings and district grade level meetings, but we could be flexible with before school.......
Thank you Stephanie, Tracy, Cathy & Catherine for representing your colleagues.
