One of CapEd Federal Credit Union’s goals is to support education and improve student’s understanding of personal finance. We offer a teacher grant program, a dedicated employee that teaches financial education at local K-12 schools within our field of membership (15 SW Idaho counties), and free student check kits. On our website we have many resources that would be useful to students of all ages. The goal of this letter is to inform you about these online resources so that your students may benefit from them. When you have a minute, would you click on the link below and see if it is something you think could be used at your school? Maybe there is a time during computer class, in the classroom, or other free time where students were able to use the computer and choose what they wanted to do. This could be one of the options. Or maybe a teacher could use it as part of a homework assignment or project.
If you click on the link below, there will be three choices based on the student’s age. Elementary students would click on 5 Spot on the right side. This would take them to an area of stories, puzzles, and calculators that is updated monthly. It teaches them about saving money and has fun games. For instance, it has a Simon Says sort of game and find the 10 things wrong with this picture; so, it’s not all about money, but it has a lot of entertaining educational things to do. If they login (which isn’t necessary), they can build their own clubhouse. Encourage them to come back often—there’s a wealth of information and fun in Googolplex, with new stories and games every month.
